Samos'tan izlenimler / Samos impressions

Bizim için bu senenin diğer senelerden farkı, tekne ile Istanbul'dan bir kerelik yapılagelen Ege seyirleri sayısının, teknenin Kuşadası Marina'da bağlı olması sonucu oldukça artması.

Böylelikle biraz zahmetli de olsa bazı hafta sonları bir şölene dönüşüyor.

Samos, Kuşadası'nın tam karşısında yaklaşık 10 mil mesafede yemyeşil bir ada.
Çoğunlukla adanın geliri turizmden ve şarapçılıktan sağlanıyor. Buranın tatlı şarapları Nektar adıyla şişeleniyor. Bolca üzüm bağı, tepeler, vadiler kimi sahile dik inen sarp tepeleriyle şirin bir Ege adası. Kuşadası'nda sıkça feribot seferleri var.

Özellikle Güney sahilinde Dilek boğazına bakan Pitagorio tam bir turist cenneti. Adını ünlü matematikçi Pitagoras'tan alan belde yatçıların gözdesi bir liman. Hareketli barlar, restoranlar akşamları trafiğe kapanan sahil boyu geç saatlere kadar kalabalık. 

İnsanları oldukça sıcak kanlı, hepsi birkaç kelime Türkçe biliyor ve bizlere çok iyi davranıyorlar. Bizim de birkaç kelime Yunanca bilmemiz iletişimi kolay kurmaya yarıyor. En iyi tarafı ise Ege'de çoğunlukla her adada olduğu gibi, basit ve sürdürebilir bir yaşantılarının olması. Her şeyin fiyatı uygun, kazıklanmak diye bir korku pek yok. Adanın iç kesimlerinde büyük marketler var, tabii arabasız ulaşmak zor. Ama buralara gitmek şart! Envai çeşit soslar, ucuz şaraplar, dondurulmuş çeşit çeşit deniz ürünleri - bizim çarşı pazardan kat kat ucuz.
Tabii bunun sonucu bu fiyatlar, restoranların fiyatlarına ve adalıların yaşam maliyetine pozitif şekilde yansıyor. Adada mesafeler yakın, her yerde araç kiralama firmaları faaliyet gösteriyor. 

POSEIDONIO

Bizim çok güzel bulduğumuz plajlarının arasında Poseidonio, Klima ve Kervelis başta geliyor. Hepsi birbirinden güzel. Sahil genellikle taşlık ama tertemiz. 
Adanın güneybatısında da plajları olduğunu biliyoruz.(Marathoukampo) Kuzey sahili Kokkari haricinde pek güzel sayılmaz. Rüzgarlar kuzeyli olduğundan adanın kuzeyinde de genelde hep dalgalı bir sahil var. Tekneyle gidince oteller hakkında pek bir fikrimiz olamadı. Güney sahilinde Pitagorio'ya yürüme mesafesinde bir de marinası mevcut. Fiyatlarının makul olduğunu gözlemledik. 

Kuzeyinde ise Samos town var. İdari binalar burada ve esas nüfus burada yaşıyor. Şu sıralar rıhtım boyunda inşaat ve yenileme çalışmaları olduğundan epey sevimsiz. Bitince güzel olacağa benziyor.  Uzun süren krizin etkisiyle her yer biraz bakımsız ve ruhsuz görünüyor. Köyler arası otobüs seferleri çok ucuz ama yeterince sık değil. Bizdeki gibi ilaveten minibüs vs.de yok. İyi ki yok.. Yeni şekilsiz inşaatlar, yüksek binalar hiç yok. İyi ki.. Her şey eski minval korunmaya alınmış sanki. 

Restoranlar klasik Yunan mutfağının güzel örneklerini sunuyor. Greek salad, tatziki, cheese saganaki, grilled octopus, kalamari, sebze yahnileri çok lezzetli. Yanına bir de şarap veya tsipoura eşlik etti mi keyif zirve yapıyor. Herşeye kekik ilaveleri, sarımsak(skordo) ilave etmeleri lezzetlere tavan yaptırıyor. 

SKORDO CİNS CİNS

Eh bu kadar reklam yeter, herkesin ağzının suyu akmadan konuyu toparlamak gerek. Samos'a gidin ve gerisini kendiniz keşfedin. Gittiğinizde lüks aramayın, aşırı hizmet beklemeyin, şikayet etmeyin, basit olun, tıpkı eski günlerimizdeki gibi. Bunları bekliyorsanız da hiç gitmeyin. Orasını rahat bırakın. Bu ada şehrin kalabalığından, ülkemizin pahalılığından, yeni zenginlerinden, saygı yoksunlarından ve görgüsüzlerinden bıkanlara birkaç günlük huzur vaadediyor.

Unutmadan iki seferdir, sahilde bir de monk seal (bir tür deniz aslanı) gördük, daha da neşelendik.

The difference of this year for us has been the increase of our Aegean sailing cruises, due to our marina change to Kusadasi, compared to the years before, where we have managed only one Aegean cruise from Istanbul every year.

So some weekends turn to a joyful event, even though the travel between Istanbul and Kusadasi is causing few troubles.

Samos is a green island vis a vis Kusadası at 10 sea miles distance.
The major income comes from tourism and winery. The sweet Samos wines are bottle here under the name Nectar. A beautiful Aegean island with lots of grape fields, hills and steep coastline. There are frequent ferries from/to Kusadasi and other Greek islands.

Specially Pithagorio at Samos strait is just a travellers' paradise.
Named after the famous Mathematician Pythagoras, the village is a center of attraction for sail cruisers. Bars and restaurants along the traffic banned coastline are crowded until late evening.

The people are very friendly and speaking a few words Turkish. If you know few words Greek, the communication is more speedy. The best thing here, as all other Aegean islands is that life is simple and sustainable. Prices are reasonable and you have no anxiety to be asked for overpaying anything.

There are big markets on major routes on the island, but you need a car. But these offer low cost wines, beers, sauces of all kinds and frozen seafood. Much more reasonable compared to prices in Istanbul.

This cost levels reflect to restaurant prices and living costs positively. The distances are close and rental car companies are nearly everywhere.

POSEIDONIO

Poseidonio, Klima and Kervelis are among the beautiful seaside villages.
The beaches are clean but with stones.

There are beaches on the southeast side of the island.(Marathoukampo) The north coast of the island is not that suited except at Kokkari. Since the prevailing wind is N, NW, this coast generally produces waves.

As we have always been with our boat at Samos, we have not much idea about the hotels here. There is reasonable marina at walking distance to Pithagorio.

Samos town is at north. Public buildings are here and the majority on the island lives here. Presently they continue a new construction of the coastal promenade, which is not convenient for visitors. When finishes, it will be an attractive seaside meeting point. 

Due to long lasting crisis many places look overused and without the flair, a visitor looks for. The bus services between villages are cheap but not very frequent. There are no other vehicles servicing. There are no disturbing constructions of any high rises here. The people are protective for the old.

Restaurants serve great specialties of the Greek cuisine :  Greek salad, tatziki, cheese saganaki, grilled octopus, kalamari, veggies all delicious.
Plus a wine or tsipoura escorting the meal makes everything a high pleasure.
They add garlic (skordo) and thyme to all specialties.

That much advertising is enough! So I wrap up the story, before getting one's lips licked. Travel to Samos and discover its beauties. Don't look for luxury, don't wait extraordinary services, don't complain and be simple - like during the good old days. If you are looking for these, don't visit this place. Don't bother this beauty. This island is promising a few days tranquility to those who are fed up of crowded city life, excessive prices, new rich, skank and graceless people.

Before I finalize we have noticed a monk seal at its coast two times, which was a great observation.
